03/09 09:09 PMBill DomsFinally getting around to checking out all the media stuff from yesterday. Awesome vid Andy. Heck of a way to start 2010.
03/09 09:00 PMKeithSDo you have to be in "live view" to shoot video with a DSLR?
03/09 06:25 PMTonyPCheck out this video, it was shot with a GH1 DSLR. May have rethink them for video use too: link
03/09 06:24 PMKoryHartmanRyan, I was in NWSChat (the number i had for making reports to OUN didn't work) all but YELLING at the mets that we had a funnel 1/2 way to the ground. No idea why it took so long for a TOR Warn
03/09 05:47 PMChris WhiteNice freaking footage Andy, you streaming audio this year?
03/09 05:40 PMChris WhiteAhh, Hammon yesterday, NICE
03/09 05:33 PMChris WhiteI was late to the party someone score a 2010 nader today?? (not seeing any reports)
03/09 04:29 PMrichgstrange green stuff showing up in my backyard where the snow melted
03/09 03:19 PMRyanSchwartzoops, that should be 10 minues from funnel to warning and about 5 minutes from tornado to warning.
03/09 02:50 PMRyanSchwartzThis storm was also a good example as to why those out in the field should radio or call in to local WFO. There was quite a bit of lag (10 mins) between the tornado touchdown and warning issuance. Don't expect initial tornado or funnel reports on Spotter Network to draw lots of attention.
03/09 01:48 PMKeithSThat God you could see this thing coming from miles away... link
03/09 01:15 PMTonyPOK, Ill quiet down. Great shot.
03/09 10:41 AMRyanSchwartzMore on this OK tornado - link
03/09 10:26 AMRyanSchwartzWell done, Andy! Glad you were safe.
03/09 09:14 AMrichgGreat catch Andy! Nice job with the interview on TWC too.
03/09 08:26 AMJacobTAWESOME video Andy. Absolutly awesome. Don't let people get you down by saying you were too close. If both you and your driver were comfortable where you were, that's all that matters. I'd get that close in a heartbeat on the right storm with the right road options.
03/09 08:26 AMAndyGabrielsonIt's amazing to hear, and see it, close but safe, I didn't start by driving up to tornadoes like that, I never did til last year because I finally had built up some comfort level. I love shooting video from about 1 mile away too, I did both yesterday, I just really enjoy the weather, theres so much to experience when your close, but your missing out on seeing the beauty of a nicely contrasted tornado...
03/09 08:09 AMTonyPIts not so much that I care about doing it if its your own doing, I just wonder why you would want to do it.
03/09 07:50 AMTonyPThat's some pretty amazing video, thanks for posting it.
